My name is Erasmo Rodriguez-Castaneda, and I am deeply honored to join Prospect High School as its new Music Director. I have taught music at all levels throughout Southern California, as well as in Mexico, Japan, and Taiwan, for over 15 years. I have taught percussion, jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, orchestra, marching band, and even drum and bugle corps, as well as private lessons.
I have most recently taught at Diamond Bar High School (winners of the National Orchestra Competition in New York) and Yorba Linda Middle School (one of the top middle school Jazz programs in Southern California) while earning my credential at California State University Fullerton.
Our community is something truly special. As a concert percussionist, jazz piano player, and composer, I fully recognize that we are located in such a cosmopolitan area with abundant music and educational opportunities. We are near two of the major symphony orchestras in the world and many of the top music education institutions and conservatories. Moreover, the immediate area is home of the top marching-pageantry ensembles and jazz organizations in the world, and San Jose is the music education capitol in the state. We have so many clear opportunities in the horizon and I am very excited to utilize my network and expertise in order to bring the vision and mission of our school and our music program to fruition
Not only does our area have amazing musical and educational potential, but I have been welcomed with open arms by all of our students, parents and education leaders. I feel it is truly a testament to the quality of our community. Thank you so much for your support and I hope to see you in our future performances throughout the year and beyond!
Mr. Erasmo Rodriguez
